Boots recently had 20% discount on XX Revolution products, so I ordered the XX Revolution XXpectation Shadow Palette as well as a few other products, and I couldn’t wait to give it a try. Keep on reading to see swatches, and read my review…
When XX Revolution launched, I wasn’t intrigued by the LuXX Palettes as I felt like they were almost double the price of the I Heart Revolution Chocolate palettes, and the quality didn’t look like they were any superior to justify the higher price.
Whilst the XX Revolution products are quite a bit more expensive than their standard product ranges, I feel like the price is justified on many of their products.
The XX Revolution XXpectation Shadow Palette is part of the XX Revolution LuXX Eyeshadow Palette collection, and the palettes each have eighteen powder shadows in cardboard packaging.
Cardboard packaging can look and feel quite cheap, but the packaging on the XX Revolution XXpectation Shadow Palette is beautiful. It’s weighty which I didn’t expect, and it’s bound by a blush pink velvet cover, which looks so luxe.
“XX Revolution Luxx Shadow Palettes contain 18 boujee shades in a luxurious velvet case.
These eye shadow palettes are coated in lux embossed velour that matches the rich colour story inside. A high pigment combo of matte and shimmer shades for you to flex your artistry.
XXpectation – The ultimate collection of nudes, from classic creams to dusty pinks and high shimmer neutrals in pink velvet.“
The top row of shadows within the XX Revolution XXpectation Shadow Palette are all matte, and the quality is simply amazing. Hopefully these swatches do them justice, but they’re so smooth and effortless to blend.
They work well to build a foundation for any makeup look with the other two rows, and feature cool toned mauve, pink and brown shades. I love cool toned eyeshadows anyway, but these mattes are my perfect shades, and they create beautiful makeup looks without even touching the shimmers.
The middle row is mainly shimmers with one warm toned chocolate brown matte, and the shimmers are beautiful. Some of the shimmers are so shimmery with a high-shine finish, they look like foiled shadows on the lids.
The last row of the XX Revolution XXpectation Shadow Palette features three mattes and three shimmers, and some warmer tones. They’re a little deeper than the shades in the top two rows, and are good for adding definition and depth.
Part of me didn’t want to love this palette, as there’s eight palettes within the LuXX Palette collection, and I knew it’d leave me wanting to try more, and it absolutely has.
This XX Revolution XXpectation Shadow Palette is just beautiful, and it’s the perfect cool toned pink and mauve palette, with flawless formulas, and I cannot rave about it enough.
