This year has been all about the tinted lip balms, and the XX Revolution XX Shine Balm Hydrating Lip Balms launched as part of the recent XX Revolution Bronze Collexxion.
“Leave your lips glowing and nourished with our XX Shine Balm, ultra-hydrating with tinted colour.
Pick your shade to create your glow, this soft and creamy formulation has added Vitamin E, Passion fruit seed oil & Blue agave to help moisturise and nourish your lips!”
The XX Revolution XX Shine Balm Hydrating Lip Balms are available in three different shades;
Each of the three lip balms are £10 each, which I did feel was a little pricey for a tinted lip balm, however when I opened the box, and felt the packaging, it does feel very luxe.
They each have ribbed gold metal casing, and the casing has a pretty holographic shift to it. I really like that the lid has a magnet too, so it automatically closes as you begin to close the lid.
It’s the tiny things like that which makes the XX Revolution brand elevated from other drugstore brands, and whilst the prices are elevated compared to their standard range, almost everything I’ve tried has very much been worth the higher price.
The swatches of the XX Revolution XX Shine Balm Hydrating Lip Balms on the Revolution website show the balms has been super pigmented.
So I was surprised by how sheer the formulation is. The swatches must have been done with endless swipes to get colour payoff as intense and opaque as they are.
As you can see from my swatches below, the XX Revolution XX Shine Balm Hydrating Lip Balm isn’t opaque, and it isn’t intense, which doesn’t claim to be – it’s a tinted lip balm after all.
I chose two of the three shades of the XX Revolution XX Shine Balm Hydrating Lip Balm, and this balm is the shade Determined, which Revolution describe as being ‘pink’ although I don’t think that does the shade justice. It’s more of a berry tone than a pink, but it’s just so pretty, and it has an amazing passionfruit scent too.
It’s smooth, nourishing, glossy and comfortable on the lips, and the nourishment lasts even when the colour has faded away. I’d love for Revolution to launch more shades in this very same formula, as it’s the perfect tinted lip balm!
