When the XX Revolution LuXX Brush Set launched back in November, it wasn’t a brush set I was initially drawn to as the price was quite high for a Revolution makeup brush set.
I’ve tried a lot of Revolution makeup brushes over the years, and they’re quite hit and miss, so I didn’t want to spend £25 on a five-piece brush set, if I didn’t enjoy them. However, Boots had them reduced to £10 for just one day, and for that price, I knew I had to try them.

XX Revolution LuXX Brush Set
XX Revolution is Revolution’s most luxe sister brand, and the brand’s mantra is Skin XX Makeup, combining high quality skincare ingredients within their makeup formulas.
The XX Revolution LuXX Brush Set is an absolutely beautiful makeup brush set, which includes two face brushes, and three eye brushes as well as a velvet makeup brush wrap roll.
All of the XX Revolution products are beautifully presented, with luxurious, super sleek packaging, and the XX Revolution LuXX Brush Set couldn’t be a more beautiful makeup brush set.
“You know when you’re going somewhere and you throw a few makeup brushes in your bag only to pull them out later for a touch-up and find them coated in a mix of dust, debris, and food crumbs from the bottom of your bag?
Hard relate. That’s why we created this set of 5 essential brushes with a matching brush wrap that makes it easy to fold them up and pop in your bag. Not to mention, when we say they’re touchably soft we really aren’t kidding.”
The XX Revolution LuXX Brush Set is £25 and is packaged within a burgundy box with silver foil branding. This set is described as being the ‘ultimate brush set with wrap holder’, and contains five full sized makeup brushes for the face and eyes, as well as a beautiful velvet makeup brush wrap.
I don’t feel like the stock photos on the Revolution website do this brush set justice at all. They look nice on the website, but they’re seriously beautiful brushes in real life.
The brush wrap is amazing quality, and includes a flap which folds down over the brushes to protect the bristles, and secures with a long velvet cord, so you can tie the wrap together tightly.
The XX Revolution LuXX Brush Set’s brush wrap has a XX printed design all over, and it looks very chic. If you were going to travel, or keep this brush set in your bag, the wrap does a great job at protecting the brushes, and it’s one of the highest quality brush wraps I’ve used.
The first brush within the XX Revolution LuXX Brush Set is the Elite Face Powder Brush, which has a rounded, tapered brush head with a nice fluffy bristle density. It’s so perfect for applying loose powder, and works well for blush and contouring/bronzing too.
The second face brush within the set is the Soft Focus Face Angled Powder Brush. This is a super fluffy, angled brush which can also be used for bronzer, blusher, contouring and applying setting powder too. It’s a little denser than the Elite Face Powder Brush.
The three eye brushes within the XX Revolution LuXX Brush Set are the Tapered Eye Blending Brush, Angled Eye Shading Brush and the Tapered Petite Eye Blending Brush.
You get a brush for smudging shadow, laying shadow down on the lids, and then a blending brush to blend and diffuse your shadow.
All of the five brushes within the set have tapered, brush handles which is covered in deep red velvet to complement the red velvet makeup brush wrap. Then the ferrules are a beautiful, textured gold brushed metal.
I did think the velvet coating on the brush handles would be a nightmare, and they’d get messy very quickly with makeup clinging to the velvet. I’ve not had any staining issues whatsoever, and the bristles are extremely soft and silky.
This is the prettiest, highest quality brush set Revolution has ever created, and I cannot recommend them enough. I would pay the full price of £25 if I lost my brush set tomorrow, and they’re available right here.
