The Wayne Goss Cosmetics The Lip Collection launched in May 2020, and featured the Wayne Goss Cosmetics The Essential Lip Pencils, and the Wayne Goss Cosmetics The Luxury Cream Lipsticks too. Keep on reading to read my thoughts on the Wayne Goss Lip Liner pencils..
Wayne Goss Cosmetics The Essential Lip Pencil
They were the very first makeup products Wayne Goss launched as his makeup brand, after offering makeup brushes for years, and I was intrigued to give a lip liner a try as part of a recent Beautylish order.
I have read really mixed reviews on the Wayne Goss Cosmetics makeup products. His brushes get rave reviews pretty much from everyone, but not so much the makeup products.
So I decided to purchase one Wayne Goss Cosmetics The Essential Lip Pencil in the recent Beautylish sale as they were reduced to $10 from $14, which is around the price of L’Oreal or Revlon lip liners within the UK.
“Forget dry, crumbly lip liners that drag and skip. The Essential Lip Pencil glides on evenly with a velvety texture, leaving crisp, intensely pigmented lines behind.
This lip liner features the perfect balance of softness and precision so you can line your lips or fill them in for a full, long-lasting look.”
The Wayne Goss Cosmetics The Essential Lip Pencil is available in five different shades, and I chose the lightest shade available, which is Vintage Pink. Vintage Pink is described as being a deep brown mauve with a matte finish.
I can’t say I agree with the shade description at all. There is nothing that’s mauve about this shade, so it’s a strange shade description. I can imagine people being disappointed if they ordered the shade after reading the description.
I looked at some reviews and ‘real’ swatches rather than those on the Beautylish website, so I did know what shade I was getting, but again, the Wayne Goss Cosmetics The Essential Lip Pencil in Vintage Pink, isn’t all that pink either.
For me, Vintage Pink is a brown toned nude with no pink undertones, and it certainly isn’t mauve. It’s a conventional wooden lip liner pencil, and it feels quite firm on the lips.
I’m glad I only purchased one shade, as I’m just not blown away by the formula. The Essence Soft & Precise Lip Liners are £1 each, and the formula is practically identical.
Plus, there’s a lot more shades to choose from Essence too. I love a good lip liner, but $14 feels expensive for a very average lip liner. It’s my first Wayne Goss makeup product, and I’m not sure if I’d order anything else, but never say never, as you never know what’ll launch in the future, but for me, it just doesn’t warrant the hype.
