Wow there’s been a lot of new eyeshadow launches the last 48 hours, and the Stila Road Less Traveled Eyeshadow Palette is the newest.
Stila is a little more quiet with their new launches compared to how they used to be, but they recently launched the Double Dip Liquid Shadow Duos which looked amazing.
Do you remember the ‘In The’ Palettes, Stila used to do? I used to love the In The Light Palette, and was gutted when they were all discontinued.
Stila Road Less Traveled Eyeshadow Palette
The Stila Road Less Traveled Eyeshadow Palette is just one of the summer launches from Stila, and it’s currently an ULTA and Stila US website exclusive but I’d like to think it’d launch in the UK too but Stila products always seem to take a long time to reach UK shores.
It must be so frustrating for beauty brands right now with the world’s crisis, as their summer collections would be upto two years in the making, and this palette is travel themed which obviously isn’t going to go down very well with the almost worldwide travel ban.
The Stila Road Less Traveled Eyeshadow Palette is a miniature palette, with eight powder shadows for $39 which really surprised me. Nearly $40 feels very pricey for such a small, miniature sized palette.
In the above photo, you can see that the matte gold effect compact fits in the model’s hand so it’s obviously very small.
The smaller size lends itself well for a travel palette, as it’s small and easy to pack but the price feels like it is as if it’s a full size palette?
The Stila Road Less Traveled Eyeshadow Palette is part of their Blaze a New Trail Collection, which looks to consist of this mini palette, a waterproof version of their HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara and also a new Complete Harmony Lip & Cheek Stick.
I am left feeling so cold by this collection. It doesn’t scream summer, and it’s just boring in my opinion. For $39 you are only getting 5.6g of product, which works out at 0.7g per shade which is roughly half a full size per shadow yet the price is as if it’s a full sized eyeshadow palette.
Described as containing matte and metallic eyeshadows, with earthy tones to start your journey; warm pops of green and gold set you on the road to riveting. Create your own path with richly-pigmented, plush powder shades.
Let intuition be your compass. The shadows are said to have an advanced lipid-infused technology that gives vibrant, uniform colour with a silky, creamy feel. Creating one strike intensity, for richly pigmented and colour true shadows.
- Compass: metallic rose gold
- North Star: plum with shimmer
- Guiding Light: burnt orange with shimmer
- Beacon: light green with shimmer
- Lighthouse: matte chocolate brown
- Pathfinder: green with shimmer
- Horizon: gold with multi-colour shimmer
- Rising Sun: matte dusty pink
I don’t know if it’s just me, but the colour scheme within the Stila Road Less Traveled Eyeshadow Palette feels so random. It’s not very cohesive and whilst they’re pretty individually, they just don’t look as if they’d create many looks.
The formula is really hyped up by Stila but their swatches look quite muted and nothing special which is such a shame, as they’ve created some really amazing eyeshadows in the past.
Maybe these stock images just don’t do this palette justice, and it’s the kind of palette you need to see in real life to appreciate, but for $39 is just looks so underwhelming and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Stila Road Less Traveled Eyeshadow Palette in TK Maxx / TJ Maxx very soon.
