I have tried endless light up mirrors, and I’m always disappointed by how quickly they decline in terms of quality. The Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact has been on my wishlist for the longest time, and I’m delighted to have been able to give it a try over the last few weeks, so I could report back and let you know how amazing it is.
Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact
Simplehuman are an exciting brand that design everyday tools to help people become more efficient at home. Their products are simple, functional, and built to last, and the brand only creates products they would love to use themselves.
Some brands make their products in a way which you’ll need to repurchase and replace in the near distant future. However, Simplehuman build their products to last, and the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact alone comes with a 5-year warranty which just emphasises the brand’s quality.
I always use a light-up mirror for applying my makeup, using tweezers or using a dermaplane razor. I like how they allow you to get a good close-up of your face, whilst helping you to tweeze your brows.
Many, many light-up mirrors utilise bright white light, especially mirrors like the No7 Illuminated Mirrors. It’s always very bright, but doesn’t give you a true representation of colours, which is why light-up mirrors that offer natural sunlight are best, which is exactly which light the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact offers.
The Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact is available in two different magnification values; 3x and 10x, and depending on which magnification value you choose, you’ll be able to choose the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact in different colours.
The 3x Mirror is available in Brushed, Rose Gold, Black and White. Whereas the 10x Mirror is available in Brushed or Rose Gold. Both versions of the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact; 3x and 10x are the same price, and that’s £99.95. Simplehuman offer free delivery, free returns and a 5-year warranty on the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact for extra peace of mind.
I have the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact in the 3x magnification, and in the Rose Gold colourway which is just beautiful. Obviously the most important factor is the quality of the mirror itself, and the light-up function, but it’s even better when it looks amazing, and super luxurious too.
The new Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact is designed to give you the confidence of ‘tru-lux’ lighting on the go. Their tru-lux light system simulates natural sunlight, allowing you to see a full colour variation, so you’ll know when your makeup is colour-correct and flawless too.
I think we’ve all been there, where we’ve applied our makeup indoors, get into the car, check our makeup and discover we’ve perhaps been a little too generous with our blush, or things could look a little more blended. With the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact’s tru-lux light system, you get a true representation of what your makeup would look like in natural daylight.
The mirror’s 3x magnification allows you to get a great close-up of your face, and this clever little mirror features a special little sensor, which automatically turns the light on once taken out of its protective travel pouch. It also automatically switches off, once put back in too, to preserve the power.
Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact offers three different light brightness settings; 650 lux, 300 lux and also 110 luxe. Allowing you to choose your preferred brightness level, and on the back of the mirror there’s a fold-out ring which sits securely in your hand during use, or you can use the ring as a stand for hands-free use too.
In terms of power, the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact recharges via a standard USB port, and the box includes the necessary cable to keep the mirror fully charged. One full charge will give you up to one week’s power with typical daily usage, and because of the clever little sensor, you don’t have to worry about wasting the power as it’ll automatically turn off when popped back into the travel case.
How do you know which magnification of the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact to choose? Well, Simplehuman recommend the 3x for an enhanced view, whilst the 10x offers an extreme close-up view for detail work like tweezing and applying eye makeup.
I like that the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact is perfect for carrying around in your handbag, as you can touch-up your makeup on-the-go, without needing to be in decent lighting. However, it also works well as your main makeup mirror at home too, as you can use the ring stand to prop it up for hands free makeup application.
It’s nice and lightweight, and I particularly appreciate that the ring is rigid, so it doesn’t move around when you place your fingers through the ring. The last thing you want when applying your liquid eyeliner, is your mirror moving around. The Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact feels amazingly secure during use, but it really does work well when the ring is used as a stand too.
I was surprised by how lightweight the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact was, considering it’s a metal finish mirror, with the lights, but it feels as light as a compact mirror. I really like the grey, felt protective bag it comes with, and the drawstring means you can securely close your bag without worrying about the mirror coming loose in the bottom of your handbag.
Simplehuman also offer a range of cases for the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact, if you want something a little different. They have six different colours of zip-up cases, and they’re all made with hand stitched vegan leather, and utilise the same auto-sensor to switch the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact off as soon as it’s placed into the case.
You can probably tell, I’m a big fan of the Simplehuman Sensor Mirror Compact. I think the 3x magnification version is perfect for general makeup application, but depending on your vision and if you’re farsighted or not, I can use this 3x version for tweezing my brows perfectly. I can imagine the 10x version being even better for plucking your brows, and I think it’s great that both magnification values are the same price.
