Sample Beauty The Equalizer Palette: Volume II Review / Swatches

Sample Beauty isn’t a brand I’ve ever tried before, but when I saw the Sample Beauty The Equalizer Palette Volume II included within a recent Beauty Bay sale, I decided to give it a try, as I loved the look of the shades inside.

The palette launched back in November, and I did a reveal post on it back then, so I was surprised to see it discounted so soon after the launch.

Sample Beauty The Equalizer Palette Volume II

Like the name suggests, the Sample Beauty The Equalizer Palette: Volume II is a second volume, and the original The Equalizer Palette: Volume I launched in 2019, and features a very colourful colour story, with lots of bright shades.

I have to admit, I’m not a colourful eyeshadow fan. I can appreciate colourful eyeshadows, but I just don’t find that they suit me, so I like to wear neutrals, with a pop of colour, and the Sample Beauty The Equalizer Palette: Volume II looked like the perfect palette which would help me achieve that.

Full price, the Sample Beauty The Equalizer Palette: Volume II is only £21.95 which I think is really reasonable for a 30 pan palette. The design of the palette is pretty, with a metallic almost duochrome effect, and it even contains a mirror inside the lid.

The nude, warm tones of this palette provide endless looks for you to try out. The ultra-soft, vegan formula buffs and blends seamlessly onto the lid for pigment-packed finish that lasts all day. Can you find all the name pairings?

I am seriously blown away by this Sample Beauty The Equalizer Palette: Volume II. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it’s not a brand you see featured very often, but the quality of all thirty shades is fantastic.

The shimmers are out of this world, with most of them having almost a foiled formula, which apply as smoothly as a cream on the lid, with multidimensional shimmer and sparkle.

I would love for Sample Beauty to create a whole palette with this very same shimmer formula, as it would be incredible to use alongside matte palettes.

The mattes are very pigmented, and wow do they stain. Even with an eyeshadow primer underneath, they do stain, but that’s to be expected with shadows this pigmented. Especially shades like Cherry, Bitter, Comfort and Whispering. So I’d recommend using an opaque shadow base with the brighter mattes, as they will stain.

I have to be honest, I now ignore the first three shades on the top three rows, and stick to the rest of the palette as I’m wary of staining issues.

Even with disregarding nine shades, the other twenty one are amazing, and I can’t believe I haven’t tried Sample Beauty as a brand before. The price of this palette is on par with drugstore brands like Revolution.

Plus the shadows within this Sample Beauty The Equalizer Palette: Volume II are far superior to those from Revolution. If like me, you’d never tried Sample Beauty before, this would be the perfect starter palette, and you will not be disappointed!
