Revolution x DC Comics Collection Reveal!

The Revolution x DC Comics Collection has been announced today as the latest licensed collection for Makeup Revolution, literally days after the launch of their licensed collection with Post Pebbles for their I Heart Revolution sister brand.

The Revolution Instagram account shared a sneak peek video of the Revolution x DC Comics Collection, and it looks pretty exciting, especially those that love the DC Universe franchise.

Revolution x DC Comics Collection Reveal!

Revolution x DC Comics Collection

The Revolution x DC Comics Collection has now been officially revealed, and it’s a pretty bif collection. I think it’s a slightly more exciting collab than their Pebbles collection, which I know wasn’t as popular, judging on how many times my post on the collection was read.

Revolution x DC Comics Collection

Versus the views on say the Bratz or Nightmare Before Christmas collections, which is always a good gauge on how popular a launch is going to be. I think it’s because the Pebbles cereals aren’t even available in the UK, so it was quite random and irrelevant to their UK audience; they are a UK brand after all.

Revolution x DC Comics Collection

DC Comics is such a well loved franchise, and all of the characters within that franchise. We only saw Smashbox launch a The Suicide Squad collection of lipsticks and cream eyeshadows a few weeks ago, but they haven’t really been very popular.

So I really hope the Revolution x DC Comics Collection is going to be a success for the brand, as they have definitely pulled out all of the stops – it’s a huge collection!

The Revolution x DC Comics Collection is set to drop on the Revolution website on the 3rd of September (this coming Friday), and it’s a collaboration between Revolution and DC, rather than Marvel, which is different.

All of the collabs we’ve seen with the characters thus far, have been Marvel collaborations, so it is nice to see something a little different, and the collection as a whole gives me retro vibes, and this Revolution x DC Comics Collection is set to feature four of the DC characters;

The Revolution x DC Comics Collection features a capsule collection themed around each of those four DC Comics characters, and I think the packaging designs on everything looks pretty cool.

It’s nice to see an affordable brand like Revolution, create an accessible collection for a licensed property as popular as DC, Batman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman and The Joker, and keep on reading to find out all about the products within the Revolution x DC Comics Collection.

In addition to the four capsule makeup product collections within the Revolution x DC Comics Collection, there’s also some merch products too, like this cute faux leather, black Batman Makeup Bag £8.00 / $10, and Batman Bat Shaped Handheld Makeup Mirror £10 / $15. The mirror is just amazing, and will for sure be one of the most popular pieces in the whole collection.

The Revolution x DC Comics Collection includes three shades of the Revolution x DC Cosmics Lip Gloss in the shades;

I think it’s cute that the lids are patterned, a bit like the glosses within the Bratz collection. With the Joker and Harley Quinn glosses having graffiti inspired designs, and the Batman gloss has foil Batman logos on it, and the clear tubes each have a foil face / logo print too.

The Revolution x DC Comics Collection includes a lot of palettes;

There’s one massive palette, featuring sixteen powder shadows, as well as eight face powders. This Universe Palette has the pans laid out in four quads, with four shadows and two face powders per quad. Plus, the matte shadow shades feature a DC embossed design in the pans.

The Revolution x DC Comics Collection includes just one Forever Flawless tin style palette, and that’s the This City Needs Me Forever Flawless Palette. Packaged within a matte black tin, with a rose gold raised Batman logo on the front. It’s a really pretty palette, with greens, orange, purple, navy, yellow, pink and more.

The Revolution x DC Comics Collection’s Harley Quinn collection is my favourite from the whole collection aesthetically, and it’s so perfectly themed. Everything has the graffiti print effect in black, blue, pink and purple, and that colour story is carried through to the palette, beauty sponges and makeup bag. Included within the collection are;

The Revolution x DC Comics Collection’s The Joker collection is a lot deeper than the Harley Quinn collection, and it features a colourful palette, bright red gloss ad the coolest five-piece makeup brush set, which will be a must-have for DC Comics fans. Included within the collection are;

I can’t get over how amazing the brush set is. It comes with a matte black, presentation tin, and contains five face and eye makeup brushes. The brushes are fantastic, with the HA HA HA! printed design on the handles, rose gold ferrules, and then red, to white and green bristles to match the colours of the HA HA HA! print on the handles and tin.

I think £15 is really reasonable for this set, it’s so well executed, and is one of my favourite pieces from the entire Revolution x DC Comics Collection’s The Joker collection. Just like the bat shaped hand mirror, I think this brush set will be one of the most popular pieces in the entire collection.

The Catwoman Revolution x DC Comics Collection is a relatively small capsule collection, with the nine pan shadow palette like the other three characters, but also features a liquid liner pen, highlighter and false lashes set too, but no makeup bag, mirror or merch. Included within the collection are;

I love the design of the false lashes box, it’s a glittery black cat face shaped box, and it’s iconic. The highlighter looks like a deep rose gold, which doesn’t really give me Catwoman vibes, but it’s pretty nonetheless, and the palette is quite muted.

The fourth and final capsule collection, within the Revolution x DC Comics Collection, is the largest of the four characters, with seven products in total. I don’t know why Batman got more than the others, but included within the collection is;

I think the colours in both eyeshadow palettes suit the Batman character and franchise well, and the bat shaped mirror is just amazing. I feel like Revolution really missed the opportunity to create a mirror for each character – imagine how insane that would’ve been?
