The Revolution Glass Crystal Illuminator Ultra Shine Highlighter launched in mid-February but it has been announced today that Revolution have discontinued the product with immediate effect, due to a massive drama with Lunar Beauty. When this collection first launched, many followers commented that the faceted packaging was a ‘copy’ of the Lunar Beauty Prism Powder which launched in April 2019.
When followers commented about the ‘similarities’ members of the Revolution team replied saying it was just a coincidence however yesterday (Sunday 15th of March) Manny MUA (the owner of Lunar Beauty) posted a YouTube video calling Revolution out for allegedly stealing his custom componentry he had specially made.
It’s important that you watch Manny’s video, and then read the official Revolution statement and know that there are always two sides to a story. Revolution have taken the decision to remove the Revolution Glass Crystal Illuminator Ultra Shine Highlighter from their website, and they’re contacting their distributors to remove the product from sale too. I would say it’s also important to notice Revolution did reach out to Manny PRIOR to the video going live, but their messages were ignored so Revolution DID try to rectify this quickly.
All other products within the Glass collection will remain, but all three shades of this highlighter have been pulled. Revolution have said the following regarding the Revolution Glass Crystal Illuminator Ultra Shine Highlighter drama:
“Revolution were presented this component by several third parties at a publicly attended trade fair in March 2019 and were led to believe that it was a freely available design. Our product – part of Revolution’s Glass Collection – launched in February 2020.
We were unaware of Lunar Beauty’s product launch. On launch of our product, Lunar Beauty’s legal team contacted us, but, despite our requests, failed to supply any evidence of his alleged copyright or trade dress right in his design, or even to identify or provide images or illustrations of the product that he claimed were at issue.
Having seen MannyMUA’s video, released on Sunday 15 March 2020, in which he produces documentation purportedly showing the componentry tooling of his product (even if not any protectable copyright or trade dress rights in that product), as a matter of courtesy and out of an abundance of caution, we have taken the immediate steps to remove the product from sale and will notify our distributors to do the same.
Our intention is not to crush the spirit of entrepreneurialism. Our intention is to make beauty trends affordable for all. We do our best not to make mistakes like this, but if we do, we take steps to make things right. And for that reason, we have acted quickly and passionately. We have reached out to Manny to discuss this privately.“

Revolution Glass Crystal Illuminator Ultra Shine Highlighter Swatches
The Revolution Glass Crystal Illuminator Ultra Shine Highlighter is one of three shades;
- Glass Mirror – A pale icy pink
- Black Ice – A deep gold
- Glass Crystal – An icy white
The Revolution Glass Crystal Illuminator is £8 and contains 10g of product. The highlighter is packaged within a silver, chrome, faceted design compact with a mirror inside the lid.
The compact appears to have a pale pink iridescent effect and looks a little bit chunky due to the faceted design. The outer packaging is a holographic box, and it looks pretty cool for a drugstore highlighter.
This highlighter trio have launched as part of a whole glass skin collection, inspired by the popular K Beauty trend. It appears all brands are trying to tap into this new trend right now, such as Barry M and NYX.
I do feel like £8 is a lot for one single highlighter, and the price has been elevated due to the ornate packaging. The three shades of the highlighter aren’t unique, and they’re shades the brand already offers in their Ice Kiss range but this collection is all about the presentation and the shades are still very pretty.
