If you watched a lot of beauty YouTube videos during 2011 to 2015, the Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner was *the* most popular gel liner. Wayne Goss raved about it in a video on his YouTube channel back in 2011, and every big beauty YouTuber raved about it. The Revolution Gel Liner Pot is one of the brand’s newest additions to their eye makeup range, and it looks very promising.
Revolution Gel Liner Pot
The Revolution Gel Liner Pot is a highly pigmented gel eyeliner, designed to last all fay without cracking or crumbling on the eyes, and includes an angled liner brush for the sharpest flicked liner look.
Ingredients
Isododecane,Cyclopentasiloxane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Isobutylmethacrylate/Bis-hydroxypropyl Dimethicone Acrylate Copolymer, Hydrogenated Microcrystalline Wax, Polyethylene, Isohexadecane, Tocopheryl Acetate, Phenoxyethanol. [+/- MAY CONTAIN (PEUT CONTENIR): CI 77499 (Iron OxidesCI 77266 (Black 2)].
One of the reasons the Maybelline Gel Liner was so popular, was the super affordable price tag and the lasting power. It was known for having intense pigmentation, which glided across the lids for a smooth application. It didn’t smudge, it didn’t flake and it was a great budget alternative to the very pricey Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Liner.
The Maybelline Gel Liner is hardly ever talked about and I have no idea why. There aren’t any decent gel liners within the drugstore these days, so it’s exciting that Revolution have launched one and I can’t wait to try the Revolution Gel Liner Pot.
The Revolution Gel Liner Pot is a purse friendly £6 and contains 3g of product. 3g sounded very minimal, but I’ve checked and both the Maybelline and Bobbi Brown Gel Liners also contain 3g too.
The Revolution Gel Liner Pot has really sleek, luxurious packaging for a gel liner and gives Illamasqua a run for their money with their gel liner. It has a frosted glass jar, with a rose gold metallic screw lid. It definitely doesn’t look like a £6 gel liner.
The Revolution Gel Liner Pot comes with a brush but it doesn’t look the best in all honesty. It’s an angled liner brush but it looks quite chunky for a gel eyeliner brush. You’d be better off with something like the Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush, as it’s considerably more precise and you can get right into the lash line.
The liner claims to be lifeproof which is an interesting claim to make, but it’ll be interesting to see how waterproof and long lasting it is, and to see how it compares to the Maybelline Gel Liner.
There’s only one version of the liner on the Revolution website, so it looks as if it’s only available in black but fingers crossed they introduce further shades if it’s a popular launch for them.
