NYX High Glass Illuminating Powder and Finishing Powder

‘Glass’ skin is somewhat of a beauty buzzword right now, with many brands creating primers, highlighters and powders to help you achieve a glass-like glow to the skin. I’m all about the glow, rather than a matte look, so the NYX High Glass Illuminating Powder sounded like something I needed to try.

The glass skin trend has been inspired by K Beauty, and is meant to evoke the idea of a crystal clear piece of glass. I am going to focus on just the two powders, but there’s a primer and brushes too.

NYX have launched a whole High Glass collection with three products which can be used together for the perfect glowy look, as well as three brushes which are designed to be used with the powders and primer;

  • NYX High Glass Illuminating Powder
  • NYX High Glass Finshing Powder
  • NYX High Glass Face Primer
  • NYX High Glass Illuminating Powder Brush
  • NYX High Glass Finishing Powder Brush
  • NYX High Glass Face Primer Brush

NYX High Glass Illuminating Powder

If you’d like to achieve a glass like glow, the NYX High Glass Illuminating Powder and Finishing Powder is part of their 3 step High Glass collection. Featuring a pressed gel formula, packed with luminous micro pearls which catch, reflect, and refract the natural light for a multidimensional, mirror-like sheen. They’re specifically designed to go with your glass skincare regime.

There are three ‘inclusive’ shades – light, medium and deep, that will highlight and complement a range of skintones. Glass skin is defined as being a trend that evolved from KBeauty’s dedication to a healthy, glowy, hydrated looking complexion. Glass skin refers to skin that looks translucent, smooth and reflective just like a pane of glass.

NYX High Glass Finishing Powder

Blur away your imperfections, and keep your skin looking glass-like all day with the new High Glass Finishing Powder! It’s designed to be the second step within their 3 Step High Glass Skin Regimen, with a versatile formula designed to be worn over High Glass Face Primer or the foundation of choice.

You can choose from three light-reflecting shades which stretch across light to deep skin tones (light, medium, and deep), each shimmering setting powder sets your makeup and gives the complexion a sleek and polished glass-like glow.

There are three shades available in both the Illuminating Powder and Finishing Powder; Light, Medium and Deep. The shade range has a lot to be desired, and needs to be more inclusive.

The lightest shade isn’t very light, and the two deeper shades look very similar, so I would hope NYX choose to extend the shade range, so more of us can try their powders. The NYX High Glass Illuminating Powder is £11 and contains 4 grams of powder, and the Finishing Powder is £10 for 4 grams of product too.

The packaging is very simple, but it’s inline with the rest of the NYX pressed powders, with a clear lidded plastic compact. I really like that both of the powders have a slightly raised, shards design which looks similar to the Becca Prismatic Amethyst Shimmering Skin Perfector pan design too.

I do feel like £10 and £11 is pricey for a drugstore brand, but NYX is expensive in the UK compared to the US. The powders are available now, alongside the primer and brushes on the NYX UK website.
