I love NARS foundations, so I’m really happy they’ve launched a brand new foundation. The NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation is the foundation version of their bestselling Soft Matte Complete Concealer, which is one of my personal favourite concealers, especially for concealing blemishes.
The Soft Matte Concealer comes in a circular jar, whereas there Creamy Concealer comes in a tube with a doefoot applicator. If you enjoy the Soft Matte Concealer, you’ll love the new NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation.
NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation
The NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation is launching with 34 shades, with the lightest shade being Siberia L0 (fair skin with yellow undertones) and the deepest shade is Mali D6 (very deep skin with neutral undertones).
The NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation is set to launch for sale on the 1st of September, and will be on sale for $40, and contains 1.5 oz / 45 mL of product. That’s a decent amount of product for the price, as with foundations, you typically find you get .01 oz / 30 mL.
So to essentially get 15ml more product without an inflation in price is amazing. I hope other brands follow suit, as it’d mean we’d have to repurchase more infrequently, and would save more money throughout the year.
Directions
- Dispense a small amount on to the back of your hand; one drop delivers full coverage with fingertip application.
- Pat product with fingertips, start at the centre of the face, and gently press the foundation on skin.
- Use a stippling motion to blend outward.
- Work in small sections, focusing on one area at a time.

The NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation comes packaged in a slightly different packaging style to the typical NARS foundations. With a frosted, clear plastic bottle and a rubberised black plastic screw on lid.
NARS like to use black tubes or glass bottles for their foundation, but this new design is so sleek, and ideal for travel as it’s lightweight and you don’t have to worry about it breaking in transit.
I also think this packaging design will be particularly great for makeup artists, as they usually have to carry many shades of the same foundation formula, so these plastic tubes will be more makeup artist friendly too.
