MAC x Disney Cruella Collaboration
The Disney Cruella movie is launching later this year, and the new Disney Cruella movie is described as being a live-action prequel feature film following a young Cruella de Vil.
We are going to see a lot of makeup collections themed around Disney Cruella, but I don’t think anything is going to be beat the MAC x Disney Cruella collection.
“Makeup your own rules with a covetable collection of punk-rock reds and haute metallic hues inspired by the most iconic looks of Disney’s Cruella.
Rebellious, glamorous and undeniably fabulous – this limited-edition lineup for eyes, lips and skin celebrates our favourite fashionable villain’s rise to infamy in her new live-action film.“
MAC collaborated with Cruella De Vil as part of their Venomous Villains collaboration, and the packaging was very cool, with cartoons of Cruella on all of the products.
The first product within the MAC x Disney Cruella Collection is the MAC x Disney Cruella Cruel-la Intensions / TickledPunk Split Pan Blush Duo.
The blush duo is housed within a black and white compact, with the base of the compact being a metallic red. Half of the lid is black, and half of the lid is white, with red Cruella on the top.
“Inspired by Disney’s Cruella, get a rebellious rush of blush with this limited-edition Powder Blush Duo – featuring one bright and one neutral hue. M·A·C Powder Blush is designed by and for professionals.
It’s enriched with vitamin E and formulated to provide fantastic colour to cheeks with ease and consistency. Applies evenly and adheres lightly to skin to achieve a natural-looking application of colour.“
- Tickled Punk: Bright pink
- Cruel-La Intentions: Neutral
Inside the duo there’s a bright pink matte blush, and a radiant peach which looks like it’d be more of a highlighter than a blusher. It’s a 10g blusher duo, so it’s a decent size, and it looks beautiful.
Next up in the collection is the MAC x Disney Cruella Cruella To Be Kind Eye Shadow Palette. I did originally think it was perhaps two eyeshadow quads, but it’s actually one palette with eight shades inside.
“Rock a sinister shimmer! This magnetic two-piece eye palette packs a wondrous wave of haute metallic hues and smouldering statement shades inspired by the most iconic looks of Disney’s Cruella.
It features an array of textures – from Matte to Frost to Lustre – that allows you to rebel with a cause whenever you so choose.
These saturated, soft and smooth shades come dressed to impress in limited-edition two-toned packaging that splits down the middle with an innovative magnetic design.”
The shadows aren’t laid out conventionally, they’re laid out vertically and horizontally, and it’s a layout which I imagine won’t please a lot of palette fans. One half of the palette houses a bright cobalt blue, deep black, bright white and shimmery silver.
Shades
- Gesso: Vivid white (Matte)
- De Villionaire: Silver (Frost)
- Need For Tweed: Grey lilac (Satin)
- Crue Love: Vivid bluered (Frost)
- Carbon: Intense rich black (Matte)
- Chilliin’ Like a Villian: Bright blue (Matte)
- Cruella To Be Kind: Warm pink neutral (Matte)
- Sinister Shimmer: Black with gold sparkle (Frost)
The shades don’t scream Cruella to me apart from the white, black and red. I might be mistaken, but it looks like it could be a cardboard design palette, and there’s some printed illustration patterns inside the compact.
Next up in the MAC x Disney Cruella Collaboration is the MAC x Cruella Dual-Ended Pro Longwear Eyeliner, which is a two sided eyeliner pencil in the shade 01 Tightly Laced/De-Vinyl. One end of the eyeliner is a matte black, and the other end of the pencil is a matte white.
“The De Vil is in the deluxe details. Write on the money with a limited-edition dual-ended Pro Longwear Eye Liner inspired by the most iconic looks of Disney’s Cruella.
This long-lasting liner serves up two creamy, dense colours – white on one end, black on the other – that glide effortlessly across lids with a de-vinyl finish. Smooth to apply. Won’t transfer, smudge or budge.“
- De-Vinyl: White
- Tightly Laced: Black
The packaging looks pretty cool on this liner, with the pencil being half black and half white, with a red metallic band in the centre of the dual-ended pencil.
Then we have the MAC x Cruella Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colour in the shade 70 Queen of Mean, which looks like a mauvey pink shade, and the lid of the lipstick has the same split black and white design as the palette and blush duo.
There’s another shade called 71 Mayhemmed, which is your iconic bright red shade too, and 72 Glamarchy which is a deep purple.
There is a set of MAC x Disney Cruella False Lashes which look to be quite wispy with a clear lash band, and clusters of lashes along the lash band.
There’s also a monochrome black and white face MAC x Disney Cruella Makeup Brush, which looks like it would be perfect for powder, blusher or highlighter.
The brush has a black, glossy wooden handle with a bright red metal ferrule. MAC have given the brush half white bristles, and half white bristles to complement Cruella’s aesthetic.
Some people have been making comments about how similar the design is to the Cruella x Spectrum Collections Brushes, which also had a black and white design.
The MAC x Disney Cruella Collaboration also includes at least one MAC x Disney Cruella Lipstick, which has glossy black plastic casing, red metal accents.
It’s guaranteed to be a bright red lipstick, as that’s what Cruella is synonymous with, and it’s bound to be beautiful – rumours are saying it’s Ruby Woo, but it’s yet to be confirmed.
I am so excited to see which other brands launch Disney Cruella collections in the coming weeks, and I’d take a guess we might see one from ColourPop and/or Revolution, but for now, this MAC collection is extremely exciting, and will be available right here..
