The MAC Glow Play Lip Balms launched earlier this year as an extension of their popular, Glow Play Blush collection. I love a good tinted lip balm, so I had to buy a few shades to try, and I have one of the shades to show you today…
“This glossy tinted lip balm kisses lips with a playful pop of everyday colour – while a nourishing blend of shea butter and mango- and jojoba-seed oils instantly soothe, smooth and hydrate.
Made for colour + care, this next-gen formula features an exclusive Moisture Glow Matrix that locks in moisture and drenches lips with long-term hydration for softer, suppler and more luscious lips over time.”
The MAC Glow Play Lip Balm is available in six different shades, well technically it’s five shades as one of the shades is completely clear, but this shade is Sweet Treat and is the lightest tinted shade in the collection.
The MAC Glow Play Lip Balm silver packaging with an amazing iridescent finish which looks almost holographic in some lights. The lid is clear and frosted, with Glow Play written in holographic font.
I wasn’t sure how tinted the MAC Glow Play Lip Balm would be, but as you can see from my swatches, the ‘colour’ is very minimal.
It’s a very, very sheer nude pink and on the lips it doesn’t really impart any colour. It just gives a gorgeous glossy finish, and is a lovely nourishing balm on the lips.
The balm has a subtle vanilla scent which is a lot more subtle than the scent of their lipsticks. In terms of longevity, it’s a glossy sheer lip balm, so it’s never going to give you hours of wear, and after an hour there’s very little colour left on the lips.
However, the nourishment is longer lasting, and the formula, shine and consistency really reminds me of the Revlon Lip Butters, but with more hydration.
I know many wouldn’t like how quickly the balm wears away, but it’s the perfect throw it on and forget it lip product, and I love the other shades I have too.
