MAC Black Cherry Glow Play Lip Balm

When I first started blogging over eight years ago, MAC was *the* beauty brand, and MAC limited edition collections always caused quite the stir.

If you could queue up at your local MAC counter on launch day to get the limited edition products, you were on top of the world as their collections were so highly sought after.

MAC Black Cherry Glow Play Lip Balm

If MAC launch special packaging for their limited edition collections, they instantly become considerably more desirable, and the packaging for the MAC Black Cherry Glow Play Lip Balm is just beautiful.

All of the MAC Black Cherry collection products have matte black casing and blush pink chrome accents, with the prettiest Sakura blossom dropping petal design. The design is prevalent on the blushers, lip balms, lipsticks and Fix +.

There is a couple of products without the special design like the lip primer and liquid liner, so I skipped those, and they weren’t products I was fussed about trying.

MAC Black Cherry Glow Play Lip Balm

I bought two shades of the MAC Black Cherry Glow Play Lip Balm, and the shade I have to show you today is the Pinking Of You Shade.

All four shades are very sheer, so whilst they look very bright in the bullets, they absolutely do not transfer as bright onto the lips. The swatches MAC shared on their website couldn’t be more misleading if they tried. They’re very sheer, and do not swatch as intense as the MAC swatches imply they do.

Nourishing lip balm made for colour + care in four playful pops of sakura-inspired shades – each packed with good-for-lips ingredients.

I’ve shared two swatches of the MAC Black Cherry Glow Play Lip Balm in Pinking Of You above. The top narrower swatch is one single swipe of the lip balm, and the second, thicker swatch is five swipes of the lip balm.

As you can see, it’s very sheer and very glossy. It imparts the sheerest pink hue to the lips, which might not be noticeable if you have more pigmented lips.

My lips are a very pale pink, so Pinking Of You is noticeable on my lips, but it’s just the perfect lip balm to team up with absolutely any makeup look, to pull the look together, without clashing with your blush or eye makeup.

It gives a beautifully glossy finish to the lips, and feels so smooth and hydrating too. It also has a subtle floral scent which isn’t noticeable once applied to the lips, but just makes the love the MAC Black Cherry Glow Play Lip Balm even more.

I originally just bought Pinking Of You, but I love it so much that I have now ordered the other three shades, which hopefully emphases how much I love the formula, and the amazing packaging is definitely a very pretty bonus.
