Laura Mercier primers have always been super popular, and now they’ve relaunched their primer collection and introduced the Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Power Primer Supercharged Essence. I feel like Laura Mercier did primers way before they became so mainstream, and they’ve totally revamped their whole makeup primer range.
The primers have been broken down into different skin types, making it easy to know which one would be best suited for your skin type. All of the primers are called ‘Pure Canvas’, and then the name is followed with types like Perfecting, Protecting, Hydrating and Blurring.

The Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Power Primer Supercharged Essence is a superfine, supercharged and super concentrated priming essence to create a flawless canvas for makeup application and extended wear.
With a unique transformative milky essence that delivers next level priming, with a visibly smooth and ultra soothing complex. The formula promises to melt onto the skin whilst Marimo Pearl reflects light to enhance the appearance of skin for a picture perfect look. Whilst rejuvenating Beauty-Boosting peptides help deliver smoother, firmer younger looking skin.
Laura’s Inspiration
“Just as a painter primes a canvas, Laura Mercier believes in priming the skin. Pure Canvas Primers are the essential step to prepare the skin for makeup application.
All silicone-free, the breathable formulas seal in skincare and create a protective barrier that extends makeup wear. Packed with skin-loving ingredients, the primers not only protect skin but are also good for skin“.
Directions
Apply after skincare. Gently massage a dime-sized amount onto skin with fingertips. Follow with Tinted Moisturizer or Foundation.
Ingredients
WATER/AQUA/EAU, NEOPENTYL GLYCOL DIHEPTANOATE, GLYCERIN, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAISOSTEARATE, C9-12 ALKANE, CAPRYLIC/ CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, DECYL ISOSTEARATE, PALMITOYL TRIPEPTIDE-1, PALMITOYL TETRAPEPTIDE-7, ISOSTEARYL ISOSTEARATE, ETHYLHEXYL OLIVATE, ETHYLHEXYL COCOATE, COCO-CAPRYLATE/CAPRATE, PPG-3 BENZYL ETHER MYRISTATE, SQUALANE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, SODIUM POLYACRYLATE, POLYURETHANE-35, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, MICA, BARIUM SULFATE, SODIUM CITRATE, ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, POLYSORBATE 20, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM LACTATE, CARBOMER, METHYLPROPANEDIOL, POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE, TRISODIUM EDTA, ALUMINA, PHENYLPROPANOL, PHENOXYETHANOL. MAY CONTAIN/PEUT CONTENIR/(+/-): TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), IRON OXIDES (CI 77491).
The Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Power Primer Supercharged Essence is £46 and contains 30ml. The primer is packaged within a glass, frosted bottle with a subtle pink hue and white lid and pipette dispenser. I think £46 is expensive for a makeup primer, as it’s not a skincare product and one you’ll just leave on your skin – you’ll remove it with your makeup at the end of the day.
I understand that the Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Power Primer Supercharged Essence been created with ‘Beauty-Boosting peptides’ to help deliver smoother, firmer younger looking skin but it might be worth spending more money on skincare products and then using a normal makeup primer over the top.
It does sound like a really nice primer, but I’m unsure it’s worthy of such a high price tag so it’ll be interesting to see what people think of both this, and the rest of the primer collection.
