If you’re a fan of the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velvet Trap Lipsticks, you’re in luck. Jeffree has announced that he’s launching twenty five shades tomorrow, to join the existing twenty shades which launched back in October. If you’d like to find out more, keep on reading…
The Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velvet Trap Lipstick collection launched back in October as a replacement for the brand’s Lip Ammunition Lipsticks which have since been discontinued, as the brand’s only bullet lipstick formulation.
The collection was launched with 20 shades initially, and now Jeffree has decided to introduce twenty five new shades to the Velvet Trap collection, bringing the shade range up to an impressive 45 shades – with literally a shade for everyone.
“Our Velvet Trap lipstick is a richly pigmented, single stroke luxurious opaque formula, that hugs the lips in a lightweight, velvet matte finish. Smells like vanilla crème brûlée.“
Each of the Velvet Trap Lipsticks are housed within bullet shaped packaging, just like the Lip Ammunition Lipsticks, with a matte bright pink design, and a raised JS logo on the lid. I own a couple of the original shades, and they are weighty lipsticks with magnetics lids, which makes them feel very luxe in the hand.
The new Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velvet Trap Lipstick shades are launching May 22nd (Saturday), and just like the original line-up, the new shades are going to be $18 / £16, and the formula is cruelty free and vegan, like the entire Jeffree Star Cosmetics brand.
OK, let’s take a look at ALL twenty five new shades. I’ll share the shades in groups of five, followed by a swatch photo shared by Jeffree of the shades in groups of five..
Planting Roses – muted rose
Libra Lynn – terracotta rose
Kumquat – warm earth terracotta
So they are the first five shades in the new Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velvet Trap Lipsticks shade extension, and they appear ton be bright corals and pinks, and look very summery and bold. Next up are the nudes…
Extending The Olive Branch – mustard
Jeffree’s Nudes – soft taupe nude
Celebrity Skin OG – nude brown
Palaeontologist – earthy nude
Gardening Hoe – muted nude yellow
They are the nude themed shades within the new collection, and there’s a couple of more unique shades like Extending The Olive Branch which Jeffree described as being a mustard.
This shade group also includes Celebrity Skin OG, after Jeffree admitted the brand messed up in the lab, and their other Celebrity Skin shade wasn’t a match for the original Celebrity Skin Velour Liquid Lipstick, but this shade definitely is. Let’s look at some reds…
Red Affair – electric red
Redrum – bold red
Cherry Wet – muted red
Orange Prick – orange coral
Some of these shades are inspired some of the Jeffree Star Cosmetics eyeshadows from his palettes, as well as shades of his Velour Lip Liners, and shades of his Velour Liquid Lipsticks such as Redrum which is the brand’s bestselling red shade.
Laced Cake – baby pink
Major Attitude – perfect berry
Designer Blood – dark dirty red
Androgyny – dirty plum mauve
I’m Daddy – dirty mauve brown
This group of shades are more mauves and deep pink tones, and includes Androgyny. Jeffree mentioned he was asked many times why there wasn’t an Androgyny shade within the original Velvet Trap line-up, so he’s finally created one as it’s one of the brand’s bestselling shades in their other lip formulas, so it made sense for there ton be one in this formula too.
Easter Sunday – pale yellow
Wyoming Iced Tea – peach terracotta
Man Down – dark terracotta brown
Plastic Surgery – dark orange brown
Grave Digger – dirty grey
These last shades are a little more unique with a bright pastel yellow, and a deep grey with some more grungy tones. Jeffree said that Easter Sunday was very difficult to formulate as yellows are hard to create, but he’s created the perfect yellow lipstick shade.
So they are all twenty five shades of the new shade extension collection, and they look to be a great addition to the existing twenty shades. Jeffree also exclusively revealed that there’s twenty new shades of his iconic Velour Liquid Lipsticks coming next week, so stay tuned for the reveal, and you’ll find the brand new Velvet Trap Lipsticks right here…
