The Glossier Ultralip Lipsticks launched back in May, and I ordered the Glossier Portrait Ultralip Lipstick alongside the shade Lucite, and I couldn’t wait to give them a try.
The launch gained a lot of traction, and very quickly too, thanks to Olivia Rodrigo sharing a video of her talking about the new lipsticks on her Instagram page. I have tried a couple of Glossier products recently, but I had high hopes for these lipsticks as they sounded amazing.
Glossier Portrait Ultralip Lipstick
“The rich moisture of a balm, the sheen of a gloss, and the buildable color of a lip tint, without the hassle of layering multiple products—it’s one tube, one step, one… Ultralip!“
The Glossier Ultralip Lipsticks have been designed to have a balmy formula, which is said to feel luxe, plus and so comfortable on the lips. Glossier even describe the comfort as being ‘like pulling on a buttery-soft, well-loved cashmere sweater’ – and who doesn’t want that for their lips?
They’re described as immediately cocooning the lips in smoothing shine and colour, and the exclusive formula is enriched with a blend of 4 molecular weights of hydrating Hyaluronic Acid, which draws in and holds onto moisture like a magnet for revitalized lips.
The Glossier Ultralip Lipstick collection contain a nourishing, three-oil blend with meadowfoam oil, jojoba oil and watermelon oil, which work together to lock in moisture, so lips feel soft and supple.
Glossier claim the Ultralip Lipsticks have buildable, pigmented colour which can be applied in one swipe for sheer coverage, and then two-to-three times for a bolder look, so I included swatches of both, so you could see that they are very buildable.
I know many prefer a bold, vibrant lipstick with intense colour pay off, but really, the Ultralip Lipstick formula is my perfect lipstick formula. You can get a tinted lip balm effect with just one swipe, but it can be built up for more pigment, and more shine.
With the Glossier Portrait Ultralip Lipstick, I can’t get full opaque coverage, but I don’t believe you would with this formula, as it’s so balmy and glossy. It feels very nourishing and comfortable on the lips, and it smells incredible too.
It lasts for around two hours before showing signs of fading, but it’s more around three hours without eating, and it wears away really nicely too.
Portrait is described by Glossier, as being a ‘cherry blossom pink’ and it’s a little brighter than the swatch on the Glossier website, but it’s certainly not as bright and vibrant as some of their other shades, like Coupe or Fête.
I really can’t rave about the formula of the Glossier Ultralip Lipsticks enough. They smell amazing, they have a very subtle sweet taste, they feel extremely balmy and ‘cushiony’ (like the claims).
Not only do they look good, but they feel good too. I can’t wait to share the other shades I’ve bought since buying my original two, and I’ll blog about them very soon!
