I revealed the Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 back at the start of September, and I’m super excited to have the calendar to unbox for you today, as well as swatches of every single product and also a second calendar to give away to one lucky reader.
Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021
The Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 is one of three advent calendars available this year.
For 2020, there were only two advent calendars to choose from, with a DIY calendar and a conventional perforated door format calendar too.
However, for 2021, Essence have gone all out with their advent calendars with two DIY advent calendars available this year, and then the Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021, which is such a cute design this year.
The Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 is €24.99, and it’s a cute chest of three drawers.
Each of the three drawers have a heart cut out to help you pull out the drawers, and the drawers each feature perforated doors.
I really like how easy the doors are to push through. Each door has a push through flap, which makes it super easy to open the doors.
Some calendars are a nightmare to open, like the Real Techniques Advent Calendar, but the Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 is so much easier to open.
Each of the twenty-four perforated doors have cute messages printed behind the doors, and Essence have done a stunning gold foil festive design on every single product.
Like the blusher above, the festive foliage design matches the design of the calendar, with such lovely attention to detail.
Let’s get onto the Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 unboxing…
The first item in the Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 is my favourite product in the entire calendar, and it’s the Essence Luminous Blusher.
It doesn’t have a specific shade name, but it has an amazing star patterned pan, and the shade is quite similar to the Benefit Rockateur Blusher. With the same radiant glow, and it’s such a pretty blusher.
Day number two of the calendar features an Essence Lip Scrub Stick, which contains caring sweet almond oil and is a lilac colour.
The scrub stick has a berry scent, and contains exfoliative particles to buff your lips, and condition them too.
The next item is the Essence Eyeshadow Base, which is a square plastic compact with a solid balm primer which has a yellow hue.
Essence do have their I Heart Stage Primer, which is a liquid primer in a tube, and I feel like this solid version is very similar.
It does have a subtle yellow hue on skin as pale as mine, but it sets with a tacky finish, to help your eyeshadow adhere nicely.
The next item is adorable, and it’s a sheet of Essence Nail Jewellery Stickers, with festive designs.
I can’t get over how cute they are, and sometimes nail stickers can be a little tacky, but I think these are lovely.
We then have a lipstick, and it’s the Essence Semi Matte Lipstick, again with no shade name.
It has matte black lipstick casing, with gold foil accents, and the lipstick is a pretty berry shade with a satin finish.
Some people moan whenever a beauty advent calendar contains a mirror, but it makes perfect sense, and as far as compact mirrors go, this one is lovely.
It comes with a faux gold leather sleeve, and features a festive floral design on the underside of the mirror.
The Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 next contains a Spoolie Brush, which isn’t great. I think it’s the one disappointing product in the entire calendar, unfortunately.
It’s very pretty, with a clear acrylic handle, with gold glitter pieces throughout, but it’s a spoolie, and we all have many of them.
Next in the Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 is the Essence Mini Nail Primer 5ml, which is a base coat for any nail polish.
Then we have the Essence I Heart Extreme Volume Mascara, which is part of their permanent range, but it’s had a festive makeover to the packaging. It’s full size, and in the shade black, with 12ml.
The next item is a packet of two miniature Precise Concealer Blending Sponges, with one lemon yellow sponge and one lilac sponge.
They’d be perfect for blending the eyeshadow primer into the eyelids, which we got earlier on in the calendar.
Next in the Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021, is the Essence Moisturizing Hand Mask 25ml with urea and vitamin E.
It’s a thick white hand cream, with no scent, but it leaves the hands so silky, and it’s perfect for the winter months.
The Essence Kajal Pencil Eyeliner in Black is the next product, and it’s a basic black eyeliner pencil, with a nice soft nib, which blends easily for a smoked-out eyeliner look.
It is a product from the permanent range, like the mascara, but also has festive packaging, with a large, natural bristled wand.
Then we have the Essence Face Jewellery Stickers, with lots of different stickers.
There’s two moon stickers, some silver diamante stickers, different sizes of pearl stickers and also some stars too. I wouldn’t use these, but some people would.
Next up in the Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 is the Essence Eyeshadow Blender Brush, which features a glittery handle like the spoolie, gold ferrule and white synthetic bristles.
We then have a nail polish, and it’s the Essence Mini Nude Nail Polish 5ml, which like the name suggests, is a pale nude shade, and can be used with the nail primer in the calendar.
The Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 then features another nail product, and it’s the Sparkle All The Way Nail File, which features a gold glitter side, and the emery board side, with a festive design.
Then we have a product for the lips, and it’s the Essence Juicy Bomb Shiny Lip Gloss in the shade 01 Proud Pitaya.
It’s a clear gloss loaded with pretty golden shimmer, and it has a delicious fruity scent.
Next in the Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021, is something a little random, and it’s a set of two braided hair elastics. They are pretty, but I’d rather it was a makeup product instead.
We then have yet another brush, and this time it’s the Essence Eyeshadow Shader Brush, with the same glittery handle, gold ferrule and super soft white synthetic bristles – these brushes are so pretty with the handles.
To go with the lip scrub we got earlier on in the Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021, we also have the Essence Caring Lip Balm.
It’s a twist-up stick format, and a delicious coconut scent. The formula contains sweet almond oil and coconut to hydrated an nourish the lips.
We then have an Essence Eyelash Curler. I really don’t like using eyelash curlers like these, as they stick and pull the lashes.
I, much prefer the metal format of lash curlers, but alas, they’re included in the calendar.
The last nail item in the calendar is the Essence Mini Fix & Gloss Top Coat 5ml. It has a festive design like the base coat and nail polish, and I like that we also have the nail and hand mask, for a full manicure set.
Day 23 of the Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 is an Essence Brush Cleansing Tool, which is a lilac silicone cup which suctions onto your sink.
It allows you to cleanse your makeup brushes quickly and easily, when used with a brush cleanser.
It’s actually a nice quality brush cleansing tool and is a nice size too. I like all of the different shapes and sizes of nodules, to help you thoroughly cleanse your brushes.
So it’s Christmas Eve, and the Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 has the Essence Star Highlighter 4.g behind the door.
I love that we get a star highlighter on the last day, and a star blusher on day one, meaning we start and finish with the best products.
Just like the blusher, the pan has a raised star pattern, and the shade of the highlighter is a warm toned gold.
The shade is too deep for my skintone, but it doubles up as an eyeshadow, or you could break the pan into loose powder, and add it to a setting spray to make a DIY illuminating setting spray, if the shade is too deep to be used as a highlighter.
So that’s the whole Essence 24 Sparkling Moments of Joy Advent Calendar 2021 unboxed and swatched for you.
For the price, it’s a fantastic advent calendar, and the quality of the contents is so much better than the Essence 2020 advent calendar.
I didn’t love the spoolie, hair ties or eyelash curler, but that’s just down to personal preference.
