The By Beauty Bay Wilderness Palette launched last week, and I knew I had to give it a try. As a brand, the By Beauty Bay makeup (and skincare) is really underrated. Everything I’ve tried has been of amazing quality, and whilst everything is super affordable, the formulas genuinely give high-end brands a run for their money.
Affordable eyeshadow palettes are very easy to find thanks to brands like Revolution, Essence, ColourPop etc, but in my opinion, the quality of the By Beauty Bay Palettes far surpass Revolution palettes, and that’s a bold claim as I’m a big fan of Revolution.
The By Beauty Bay Wilderness Palette is just £15, and contains twenty pans, each containing 1.4g of product per pan. Not only are Beauty Bay palettes affordable, they always give you a lot of product for your money.
This particular palette works out at 75 pence per eyeshadow, and each pan gives you more product than a full sized MAC Eyeshadow (which are £16 each).
I always like to compare shadow weights and prices with MAC, as they were an industry leader for eyeshadows for a long time. Now brands like Beauty Bay are showing us you really don’t need to spend a fortune to find high quality eyeshadows, and they’re cruelty free too, whereas MAC are not.
The By Beauty Bay Wilderness Palette has cardboard packaging, with a green earthy and mossy scene on the front and the back of the palette, and the front over features scattered gold foil dots all over which remind me of fireflies.
If you’ve never had a Beauty Bay palette before, they all have cardboard packaging, but they come with a double walled bubble wrap pouch within the outer box to keep them protected, and the cardboard is a nice, robust quality with a decent sized mirror inside the lid.
“Reconnect with mother nature with the Wilderness Palette. Inspired by all the rich, earthy tones, leafy greens, and molten shades that nature has to offer us, this 20-shade palette features wearable autumnal hues whilst still allowing you to explore your creativity.
Featuring the same BEAUTY BAY formula you know and love, each shade is packed full of pigment, is super blendable, and lasts all day without fading.”
Inside the palette, you get four rows of five shades, and each row has a different colour story. Beauty Bay say the palette is inspired by the rich, earthy tones, leafy greens, and molten shades that nature has to offer us.
To me, this By Beauty Bay Wildness Palette looks to have a row for all of the four elements; top row (water), second row (air), third row (earth) and fourth row (fire). It’s such a unique colour story, and that was the reason I decided I needed to try it, as you rarely see these tones together within the one palette.
Inside the By Beauty Bay Wilderness Palette, there are seven metallic shades, and the rest of the palette consists of matte finishes. I do wish there were more shimmers within this palette, as the By Beauty Bay shimmer formula is incredible.
However, if you like more mattes, or have lots of other palettes filled with shimmers, I feel like this palette would supplement those beautifully, for creating endless more colourful looks.

How amazing are the By Beauty Bay Wilderness Palette swatches? For £15, the quality is amazing, and these swatches are as always, without any primer or eyeshadow base, and are done with one single swipe with a dry fingertip.
The colour payoff is only intensified when using an eyeshadow primer, and the metallic take on a wet look foiled effect when applied with a dampened brush. It’s a fantastic palette, with one of the most unique and interesting colour stories we’ve seen launch this year thus far, and the By Beauty Bay Wilderness Palette is available right now.
