Bobbi Brown Multi-Chrome Long Wear Shadow Sticks Review / Swatches

The Bobbi Brown Multi-Chrome Long Wear Shadow Sticks launched as part of the Bobbi Brown holiday collection this year, and it was one of the launches I knew I needed the minute I saw them on social media.

I have become a really big Bobbi Brown fan over the last year or so, and I can’t recall being disappointed by any of their launches… until now.

I absolutely love the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Sticks, and I own at least six shades in both full and mini sizes, and I’m always excited by new shades being added to the range.

The formula is great, and they’re always opaque, super pigmented, and last all day with zero creasing or fading. They’re one of my favourite shadow stick formulas alongside Laura Mercier, By Terry and Mally.

When I saw Bobbi Brown were launching two “multi-chrome” shades of their cream shadow sticks, I was so excited to give them a try. I love anything multi-chrome, so the idea of multi-chrome cream shadow sticks definitely appealed to me, and I ordered both of the shades from the holiday collection.

Usually, the Bobbi Brown shadow sticks have black packaging, but the Bobbi Brown Multi-Chrome Long Wear Shadow Sticks are white, with pretty gold stars all over, and they look amazing.

Just like the permanent shades, the two multi-chrome shades have a coloured base, so you can easily tell them apart without looking at shade names, or having to pull off the lids.

The Bobbi Brown Multi-Chrome Long Wear Shadow Sticks are available in two shades; Skyward and Incandescent. Look how gorgeous both shades look? The rosier stick is Incandescent, and the greener stick is Skyward.

Multichrome products have more than two shifts, and duochrome products have two shifts. Seeing as Bobbi Brown called these shadow sticks multichrome, you’d assume there would be multi-shifts, but there aren’t.

Bobbi Brown Multi-Chrome Long Wear Shadow Sticks

The Bobbi Brown Multi-Chrome Long Wear Shadow Sticks are duochrome at best, and they’re disappointingly sheer. The swatches above are five swipes of each stick, and they’re still not opaque.

It’s impossible to get a fully opaque effect, which is so disappointing as their other shadow sticks are all opaque and pigmented.

I appreciate different pigments are used in order to create the multichrome effect, but on the eyes, they look flat, and one dimensional. Incandescent looks like a rose gold, and Skyward looks like a yellow gold.

Out of the two Bobbi Brown Multi-Chrome Long Wear Shadow Sticks, Skyward is the slightly more unique shade, but for £25 each, they’re so disappointing, and the formula is no way near as good as the usual Bobbi Brown shadow stick formula.

They also fade very quickly on the eyes, which isn’t great considering how sheer and barely there, they are to start with. I get a maximum three hours before fading is noticeable, and the original sticks never fade, even after 8+ hours.

I’m gutted as they were one of the beauty holiday launches I was most excited about, but I couldn’t recommend them, which is such a shame, but for £25 they’re just not worth it.
