I received my Birchbox February 2021 beauty box through this morning, and I was excited to see which products were inside. I have to admit, I was really unimpressed with the January edit.
So much so, I didn’t even blog about it as the products inside were really disappointing. This month’s Birchbox is a little better, and keep on reading to find out more.
For the month of February, the Birchbox has been changed to a bag rather than a box. Usually we get a cardboard box containing our products, but this month we get one of two makeup bags instead.
There’s a sky blue and pink bag, and also a purple and orange bag, which will be given to subscribers at random, and I got the blue one.
I have to admit, I feel like the quality of the products inside the box (or bag) isn’t great this month, and I’d have rather they didn’t pay extra to make these bags, and instead upgraded the products instead.
The Birchbox February 2021 is designed to help you take a break this month, which is on the same vibe as this month’s Lookfantastic box too. It’s all about self care and pampering, and the products inside this box are supposed to facilitate that.
The first product inside the Birchbox February 2021 is a 75ml sample of the Soaper Duper Shea Butter Body Wash, which is a really small bottle for a body wash sample. This size is only worth £3.50, and you can find it in Tesco. For the month of ‘love’ and self care, it would have been nice to see a more luxe body wash.
This month’s box contains not one cleanser, but two. I think this is a real shame, as nobody wants to get two washes/cleansers in the same box. I know this one is for the face, but it’s still a cleanser regardless.
It’s the Huygens Organic Regenerating Face Wash in Rose, in a sample size. It’s made with 99.9% natural ingredients, and as I said it’s one of two cleansing products this month.
I don’t know if Birchbox have shares in ModelCo, or Mco but wow the repetition is ridiculous. There are so many amazing beauty brands, we don’t need to see the same brand repeated every other month.
This is the MCoBeauty Cheek & Lip Tint in the shade Flamingo Pink, and is supposedly full size and worth £12 – it’s tiny. It’s $12 Australian Dollars, so really it’s only actually worth £6.70, and Birchbox have inflated the price to make the contents look better.
The next product in the Birchbox February 2021 is a Birchbox branded Gua Sha stone. Birchbox proclaim that it will relieve stress, tensions and headaches with a well deserved face massage.
I would recommend looking into these stones before using them, as they can actually cause harm if not used properly, so definitely look into proper directions from a trusted resource. I think it’s really poor that Birchbox included a stone like this in the box with zero instructions on how to use it.
Lastly, in the Birchbox February 2021 is one single use Sensory Retreats Divine Eyes Self Heating Eye Mask. They can be purchased in a box of 7 masks for £21, so this single use, one mask is worth £3.
If you’ve ever used Spacemasks before, this is exactly the same concept in that it begins to heat up once removed from the foil packet, and you place it over your eyes, so you can enjoy the warming sensation. It’s lavender scented but the Sensory Retreats brand offers other scents too.
You can probably tell I’m disappointed by this Birchbox February 2021 box – it’s not worth £13 in my opinion. Last month’s was even worse, but Birchbox used to really wow me, and they’re distinctly average these days. My subscription ends in a few months, and I will be cancelling, and instead purchasing their more exciting one off themed boxes.
