Benefit gave us all a sneak peek at the Benefit California Kissin’ Colorbalm Lip Balm; their newest lip launch, when they launched the cute California Kissin’ Club Gift Set as part of their Christmas gifting collection.
Benefit love to preview their new launches in kits and sets ahead of the full official launch, which makes business sense as people are more likely to purchase a set or palette if it features a brand new, never seen before shade / product.
The Benefit California Kissin’ Club Mini Lip Balm Set features five tiny balms from the collection, with really cute packaging.
When we saw this set launch, it was obvious that it was a preview for a future launch, as you couldn’t purchase the balms anywhere, and Benefit love to showcase their product range in their gift sets.
The Benefit California Kissin’ Colorbalm Lip Balm collection initially launched in Australia, but it’s now reached Europe, so I imagine it’ll launch in America very soon, but I’ll update this post as soon as that happens.
The Benefit California Kissin’ Colorbalm Lip Balm is available in twelve different shades, and claim to deliver lasting colour in addition to keeping the lips moisturised for upto eight hours.
“That’s why they’re ColorBalms, because you get the saturation of a lipstick and the moisturising power of a lip balm in one incredible product.”

The Benefit California Kissin’ Colorbalm Lip Balm is available in twelve different shades, and the shades are broken into four colour families; reds, pinks, berries and nudes.
I have to be honest, the shades look ridiculously similar with not a lot of variation. In the swatch photo below, it honestly looks like there’s four shades that have been swatched multiple times. I don’t know why they didn’t create a more diverse shade range, as they’re all so similar.
- Cherry 00 – Wild Child
- Spiced Red 11 – Boho Chill
- Ruby 22 – Outta Sight
- Peach-Pink 33 – Right On!
- Nude-Pink 55 – Make Love
- Fuchsia 66 – Free Spirit
- Pink Rose 77 – Flower Power
- Coral 88 – Good Karma
- Poppy 99 – Party Girl
- Pomegranate 111 – Peace Out!
- Wine 222 – Merlot Mama
- Berry 333 – Good Vibes
I think the Benefit California Kissin’ Colorbalm Lip Balm packaging looks very cute, and I like the idea of a lip balm imparting the colour payoff of a lipstick but these look very similar to their tinted lip balms they have for their tints; like LolliBalm or BeneBalm.
It does appear that Benefit have discontinued those balms, so it could be that the Benefit California Kissin’ Colorbalm Lip Balm collection is their replacement, and they do seem to give a more intense colour pay off on the lips.
If you love Benefit, you’ll love this new lipstick and lip balm hybrid, and I’ll keep this post updated should any more stockists appear.
