Benefit California Kissin Colorbalm Lip Balm Review / Swatches

2021 has been all about the balmy lip tints, and the Benefit California Kissin Colorbalm Lip Balm is just one of the tinted lip balms we’ve seen launch recently.

In addition to the Benefit balms, there’s also been the Glossier Ultralip Lipstick Balms, and I bought a couple of shades of both to see how they compared.

Benefit’s California Kissin’ ColorBalm is a richly pigmented, moisturizing lip balm that provides up to 8 hours* of smooth, luxurious color.

This cushiony formula contains wild mango butter to help moisturize lips and hyaluronic acid to help keep lips feeling smooth, plump & hydrated all day.”

The Benefit California Kissin Colorbalm Lip Balm is available in twelve pretty shades, and they each claim to deliver lasting colour in addition to keeping the lips moisturised for upto eight hours.

They’re described as being tinted lip balms, and provide upto eight hours of colour. Featuring a smooth, cushiony texture and buildable finish which helps to hydrate, soften and smooth the lips thanks to hyaluronic acid and mango butter.

I bought the Benefit California Kissin Colorbalm Lip Balm in the shade Peach Pink 33 (and Nude Pink 55), and all of the shades are quite bright and vibrant. I felt like Peach Pink was one of the more muted shade from the twelve shade collection, but I wish there was some more muted, nude shades.

The Benefit balm is comfortable on the lips, and feels very balmy. It’s a little buildable, but it’s not the kind of formula to give you full opacity, as it is a tinted lip balm.

I like how glossy the Benefit California Kissin Colorbalm Lip Balm looks on the lips, but it doesn’t feel like it imparts hydration once the balm has worn away, which takes a couple of hours max.

I’m really surprised by how similar the Benefit California Kissin Colorbalm Lip Balm is and the Glossier Ultralip Balms are. The Benefit version is more pigmented, but I find the Glossier version to be more hydrating, and if I had to choose one formula over another, it’d be the Glossier version, but I’ll share my review of the Nude Pink 55 shade very soon.
